Privacy Policy

Syllabi Exam Prep (“Syllabi”, “we”, “us”) is an exam-preparation service for Maldivian students, operated from Male', Maldives. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website and app at syllabi.mv, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Syllabi, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account details — your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
• Study profile — your exam level, grade, school or country of residence, and the subjects you choose, so we can tailor your content and leaderboard.
• Learning activity — quiz attempts, scores, mistakes, favourites, streaks and XP, used to power practice, analytics and gamification.
• Payments — when you buy a subject, we record the order and, if you provide it, the bank-transfer slip you upload for confirmation. We do not collect or store card numbers.
• Referrals — if you enter a referral code, we record the connection so referral credit can be applied.
• Technical data — basic device and session information needed to keep you securely signed in.

2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in (including via Google).
• To deliver the service — practice questions, past papers, mock exams, analytics, the Mistake Bank, leaderboards, streaks and the exam countdown.
• To process subject purchases, confirm bank transfers, and apply referral credit and discounts.
• To contact you about your account, payments and important service updates.
• To improve our content and fix problems (for example, when you report a question).

3. How your information is stored

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (Postgres database, authentication and file storage) with row-level security so that you can only access your own records. Transactional emails are sent via Resend. These providers process data on our behalf.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers above who help us run Syllabi, or where required by law. Your name and school may appear on the national leaderboard unless you choose to appear anonymously in your profile settings.

5. Google sign-in

If you use “Continue with Google”, Google shares your basic profile (name, email, profile picture) with us to create your account. We request only the standard email, profile and openid scopes and do not access any other Google data. You can revoke access at any time in your Google Account under third-party access.

6. Students and young people

Syllabi is intended for O/A-Level students. If you are under the age required for consent in your country, please use Syllabi with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will remove it.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing us; we will remove it except where we must retain limited records (for example, payment records) to meet legal obligations.

8. Your choices

• Access, correct or update your profile from within the app.
• Choose to appear anonymously on the leaderboard.
• Request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
